Week One Report

One week down, 51 more to go. I did meet all my exercise goals and the diet was just about perfect. But the first week is always the easiest.

One interesting thing that happened this week is that I went to a real gym. The variety in machinery was hard to come to grips with at first, but the ones made by Cybex had good instructions with targeted muscles posted on them. Another interesting thing is something I learned - I can run much better on a treadmill than I can on the road.

The gym membership is expensive, but the use of a good treadmill would make the fees bearable IMHO. Which brings me to the question I have, are these fees reasonable?

1 month - $70/month
3 month - $50/month
4 month - $45/month
Yearly - $40/month

The town I live in is small and there are only 2 gyms in town. I'll visit the other one next, hopefully it's a little more affordable.

Welcome to my blog

2007 was a good year for me in two regards:

1. I lost a ton of weight and made a great start towards a fit physique.

2. I got a dream job that allows me to have weekends off, no night shifts, and a 25%+ payraise.

I guess I celebrated a little too heartily during the 2007 holiday season. I ate like crazy and didn't work out religiously. As a result I put on 10 pounds and most of it had to be fat. This is probably normal for most people, but I've been strict on myself for 2 years and didn't backslide at all previously.

The reason for this backsliding, near as I can figure, is that I have a lack of accountability to peers. Many experts say that if you are accountable to friends and/or peers that you will be more dedicated. So, I decided to start this blog, my first one nonetheless.

Over the next week or so I'll line out my plans, goals, diet, and work out specifics. If the readership has any advice, I'm all eyes/ears. If it's healthy and makes sense, I'll adopt and give props. Thanks for reading.
